Sophie Drouin Mosaics
Our micro-mosaic jewelry is made in the following manner: first, a fabulous precious metal object is made by Christine, with a shallow space left to be filled with very small pieces of glass. This glass comes from Italian Smalti, a type of glass made especially for a mosaic. The glass is melted by Sophie, and then pulled by hand into thin threads called filati. Once enough colours have been prepared this way, these long threads are cut one by one to the desired length and set one by one into a bed of epoxy adhesive with tweezers. The glass surface thus achieved can be left in faceted texture, or polished smooth, as desired. Needless to say, creating these pieces is extremely time-consuming, and requires expertise both in the precious metal and mosaic processes. We are extremely proud to present this high-quality collection, where every step is taken to ensure uncompromising excellence.
